Superresolution in interferometric imaging of strong thermal sources

چکیده
Imaging using interferometer arrays based on the Van Cittert-Zernike theorem has been widely used in astronomical observation. Recently it was shown that superresolution can be achieved this system for imaging two weak thermal point sources. Using quantum estimation theory, we consider fundamental limit of resolving transverse separation strong sources arrays, and show resolution is not limited by longest baseline. We propose measurement techniques linear beam splitters photon-number-resolving detection to achieve our bound. Our results demonstrate any strength arrays.

Single-step superresolution by interferometric imaging.
The use of vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) arrays for implementation of incoherent source superresolution is presented. The method uses an interferometer setup to obtain superresolution in a single step. The novelty of the method relies on the use of a VCSEL array as the light source, which provides a set of coherent sources which are mutually incoherent. The technique accomplish...

We obtain the ultimate quantum limit for estimating the transverse separation of two thermal point sources using a given imaging system with limited spatial bandwidth. We show via the quantum Cramér-Rao bound that, contrary to the Rayleigh limit in conventional direct imaging, quantum mechanics does not mandate any loss of precision in estimating even deep sub-Rayleigh separations. We propose t...
متن کاملSuperresolution Parallel Spectroscopic Imaging
INTRODUCTION. Parallel magnetic resonance imaging methods can be used to accelerate the spatial-encoding process in MR spectroscopic imaging (MRSI) [1-2]. However, residual aliasing artifacts may be produced due to coil sensitivity variation within the low spatial resolution MRSI voxels [3-4]. This effect leads to increased lipid contamination and it is amplified for array coils with a large nu...

With the combination of climate change and human encroachment on the territory of endangered species, information about what and where animals eat and how this is changing over time can help guide conservation efforts. Thure Cerling et al. compiled a 6-year record of nitrogen, carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen in the diet of a family of 4 Kenyan elephants by analyzing the isotopic content of the ele...
